Q - What were the deminsions of the redwood before you shaped it? A - circle was 2" larger than hatch diameter and about 2" thick at thickest point.
Q - Why did you choose redwood? A - Rest of boat is redwood and pine, i like the way redwood works better than pine. Redwood is the cheapest wood in my area (San Jose, CA)
Q - Is the kayak built from scratch? A - Yes, it is built based upon Georgian Bay plans from Laughing Loon (I like the plans and I like the resulting kayak). I did, however, use the recessed cockpit idea from Nick's book as well as putting in these hatches.
