I use a greenland paddle on a 16 ft 24" touring kayak and its OK. Length is 8ft , I am 6 ft tall. This measure should be OK for you as well.

Noi, but I hold mine on the tip for large sweeps and for eskimo rolling. Any greenlander is made for this purpose.
