Yes, but if you strap the buttered toast to said cat, and drop the resulting cat/toast device, you will notice that it creates an extremely perpetual motion engine - enough of which could power entire cities. A buttered toast/cat array of say, 1000 cat/toast pairs, could generate enough electricity to power Kansas City, along with enough caterwauling (sp?) to keep everyone awake :-)
