Spar Polyurethane - vs- Varnish

Spar polyurethane/exterior varathane is advertised as being suitable for
exterior use on boats. It is also advertised as offering UV protection.
It seems to dry OK over epoxy. I feel that It is easier to apply than
varnish. It allows more time for tipping off. What is the disadvantage
of using polyurethane? I must be missing something.
