Preparing to re-epoxy after some repair work. Since my initial build, I have been watching Nick Schade videos. Interested in his method to avoid epoxy bubbles. Have seen him use both a torch and heat gun. What is better? Research says heat gun can blow the epoxy around but is more controllable then a propane torch.

popping bubbles
I cannot imagine my using a torch - unless I wanted to start a 'cedar' fire. I use a heat gun exclusively. Never had a problem blowing the epoxy around. It takes very little heat to pop bubbles. The heat gun will cover a much wider area and can be used far enough away that wind force is not a problem. Just a brief pass 12"-14" away works fine for me. 99% of my bubbles get popped just by lightly dragging a foam brush lightly across the fresh epoxy.

Thanks! If I can ask, what temp do you set the heat gun to?
heat ngun temp
My gun is either 'on' or 'off.' It may have a temp setting on it, I never looked.
OK, I looked - it's a Wagoner gun listed at 1400 watts - non adjustable - if I want hotter I move it closer, cooler, farther away :)
