Bulletin Board Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about the operation of the bulletin board.

For questions concerning the content of the Kayak Building Bulletin Board please refer to the Guidelines.

How do I look at old messages.

Use the Search/Personalize Display page to search for the subject or author you are interested in. You can also use this page to customize how far back in time you want to have messages listed whenever you come back to the bulletin board.

Should I subscribe to the mailing list?

Only if you don't mind receiving a lot of mail. The bulletin board receives 20 to 30 posts a day. You will get an email copy of every post. You can not use your email to reply to these posts. You will need to come back to the bulletin board.

How do I get off the mailing list?

Down at the bottom of the index page of the bulletin board (under Subscribe) is a space to put your email address (it should already be there). Select the radio button next to "Delete Address from List" and click on the <Send Address> Button. That's all there is to it. If this does not work, please check that the address is the same as you are receiving the notifications under.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear. Do not keep hitting <Submit> it things are not happening. Hit <Post> once and be patient. Use reload to see your posts.

Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?

No. You can not use HTML tags in anywhere. If you want to provide a link to a site (please do) use the link field. You can also provide a picture by providing the URL of a image file.

Why didn't the URL I provided work?

Did you include the "http://" before the URL. It is required. If you reference a web page somewhere in your text, please include the URL in the space provided to create an active link to the page.

How come all my paragraphs run together?

WebBBS automatically recognizes a double line break or an indentation (either a tab or multiple spaces) as the start of a new paragraph. Otherwise it assumes everything is just one paragraph and runs everything together.
